The American University of Kurdistan is accredited by the Ministry of Higher
Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Ministry of Higher Education in Iraq. The
University is currently seeking U.S. accreditation through The New England Commission of Higher
Education (NECHE).
Although accreditation greatly increases the likelihood that an
international university will recognize a degree for the purpose of postgraduate admissions, it
is at the discretion of the institution to which you are applying. Please contact the admissions
department of your prospective university to learn about its admission criteria and procedures
for international applicants.
Universities consider various factors when evaluating transfer credits,
including program requirements, course compatibility, and internal policies. Please contact the

compatibility of individual courses.
